Roll Beyond Coal! - Chicago, IL
About The Event
Roll Beyond Coal
Chicago Communities Building a Clean Energy Future
Call to Action
On Saturday, September 24th, citizens from all over Chicagoland will unite on the International Day of Climate Action to call for an end to the toxic pollution from Chicago's Fisk and Crawford Coal Plants and all other current plans for dirty energy projects. We will demand a swift transition to clean energy and jobs. On this day, we will call on Midwest Generation, owner of Chicago's two outdated, polluting coal plants, to clean up or retire the plants and transition workers to clean energy jobs.
This event is part bike ride, part rally and march. Participants can choose to “roll” to the event by joining the bike caravan that leaves from Daley Plaza at 11 a.m. Everyone will meet at 12:30 p.m. near the Fisk Coal Plant for the rally and march. At the rally, we will have exciting speakers and provide opportunities for people to get involved with local initiatives that will move Chicago beyond climate disrupting & polluting fossil fuels toward a safe, clean energy future.
