About The Event
Join us for the third year of 350.org day of action biking to highlight the transition away from fossil fuels. We will be riding our bikes from the Oldest running Solar Field in the Country to Salem where a coal plant lies. This year we will be joining the larger movement in Boston, taking the ferry to Boston with our bikes. We will be riding in support of clean energy and the proposed Winter Island Wind Project in Salem!
Bike riders will depart the Beverly solar field at 11:30 am and ride past Salem's soon-to-be-closed coal plant, to Winter Island to see the proposed wind turbine site, then on the the Salem Ferry landing.
Others who are not bringing a bike, or who want to join the group later can meet at the Ferry, which will leave for Boston at 1:00 pm. In Boston, we can regroup and have lunch at the Cleanwater Action offices, then join one of the Parades of Solutions at 3:00 heading to Christopher Columbus park for the massive climate rally starting at 3:50pm.
We're asking our group to wear green and blue so that we stand out in transit, and bring whatever props, signs, etc that you think express our vision for Moving Beyond Fossil Fuels. We will have some pinwheels to share (representing wind power) and a couple of banners. SAFE can print a banner, and is looking for input on what it should say--send in your suggestions, or make your own signs or creative visuals!
