Moving Planet Event:

Moving Planet: Stop the Keystone XL Rally at the Tx State Capitol

About The Event

The South Steps of the Texas State Capitol
5:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Saturday, September 24, 2011

The Keystone XLPipeline, proposed by TransCanada Pipelines of Calgary, would carry dirty, toxic and corrosive oil from the tar sands of Alberta through six states in the American heartland to refineries on the Texas Gulf Coast. The route traverses the length of East Texas, cutting through traditional farms and ranch land. The Obama Administration has said it will decide by the end of the year whether to permit the pipeline, after the State Department determines whether it is in the national interest.

The proposed Keystone XL pipeline has become the most important environmental decision facing President Obama before the 2012 election and sparked nationwide opposition, from Nebraska ranchers to former Obama campaigners to Native American and First Nation's leaders. A petition with 617,428 names opposing the pipeline has been delivered to the White House.

Texans are mounting their response to the proposed XL Pipeline at the State Capitol on Saturday, September 24 from 5 to 8 PM. People from all over the State will be coming to tell the President:  NO XL PIPELINE!

Scheduled performers include legendary singer/songwriter/storyteller Bobby Bridger and heavy blues outfit The Black Owl Society with more to be announced.
Please plan on attending this most important event. Come on bike, on skates, on a board, or just on foot. Bring the family. Bring a friend. Bring it!
